During these Holy Week our family is planning to have a church visit in several parishes in our place. I was hoping that I can go with them because maybe I will be the one who will be left in the house in order to secure our residence because we were so afraid of the news that several home owners in our village found out that their house was attacked by the thieves.

Currently the whole Christian community is commemorating the last week of Jesus Christ’s stay on earth as a mortal being and we call it as the Holy Week. I few memorable days of history happened many centuries ago. It is a whole week of penitence, abstinence, and sacrifice with an observance towards our religious beliefs and scriptures. Fasting is a must for everybody except those sickly people, the aged ones, and the children under the suggested age bracket. Abstaining from eating meat is strictly advised.
So as a faithful religious being my mother used to prepare her very own holiday recipes. Last week mother was able to fix everything. We went to the market to buy the food stocks that we will need during the Holy Week. For best results mother used to have a checklist of the things that we will be purchasing over the market. A was able to saw that list and it was filled with veggies and seafood such as fish, crabs, and other kinds of it. Mother has a lot of holiday recipes which depends on the different kinds of holidays and celebrations. When we arrived at the house mother immediately took time to prepare her recipes, store it in a plastic containers, and put it into the refrigerator. It was a budgeted food preparation that she does during Holy Week. It thinks there were ten different dishes that mother were able to prepare with the help of her holiday recipes. There were no meats at all because everything was packed up with veggies while some are seafood. I asked her what specific foods she will be cooking for this week. And she said that she will be cooking our favorite Filipino foods like grilled garlic fish, fried fish, sweet and sour fish, spicy prawns, mussel soup, and several veggies after. Yesterday, I helped her in the kitchen and she was cooking the grilled garlic fish for our breakfast. After a half hour of cooking time, we then shared it on the table for out early morning meal.

Last year my cousin in my father’s side got wed with her foreign boyfriend. The wedding was so much wonderful and everything was perfect. A month before their wedding my cousin used to send some invitation cards to the rest of our relative and also to her friends. That’s why during their wedding day, a lot of people were there, witness the memorable engagement of my cousin and her perfect man. Anyways, I think she did a very good job in gathering those numerous people during that special day. It was really her plan because the invitation card itself was really promising. And I should say that it was the main reason why a lot of invitees came.
I used to ask her about where she had those wonderful invitation cards because I really believe that it was expensive and I’m pretty sure that she spent so much on it. But I was even more amazed when she told me that it was just a cheap invitations card that she ordered over the internet. Both of them were trying to make everything perfect for their wedding day. She told me that it took one year and a half for them to get everything done and ready for the celebration. Cousin told me that it was really her idea about those cheap invitations cards and she was the one who got it over a site called annsbridalbargains.com. Totally, it was amazing experience for us who were invited to see them on the altar. And I think without those invitation cards, no one will be interested to attend their wedding celebration.

Political violence is trying to scare everyone in the town. Even my mother is afraid that there will be more than what is going on right now. She was so particular with the Maguindanao Massacre that hopefully it might end up with justice to the families of the victims. Currently, the wheel of justice is still in the process and as we noticed everything was left fading. Anyways, that was the worst election violence recorded within the whole election history of the country. Now, we heard another election related violence today. I wasn’t sure of the place and what was the position wherein the victim was about to run for. Upon hearing the news, mother seemed to be more scared for the things that might happen this coming election day. Even though there are a lot of reports and scares for these elections, we still hope and pray that everything will be done in a peaceful way and no one shall be hurt.

Mother asked me to buy some bread for this afternoon recess. And so immediately I went over to the bakeshop. When I got there I then ordered some of mother’s favorite bread and pay with the money that she gave to me. I was about to leave the store but I noticed something on the top of their bread stand. It was booklet or something like a comics featuring a vice presidential candidate. The salesgirl told me that it is a distributable item. Then she asked me to get one and I did get a copy of it. When I arrive at our residence found some time to read it. And do you know what’s in that comic? Well it was just a life story of a candidate for the vice presidential position. There a lot of things was mentioned especially his achievements during his service in the government as a mayor. There are several things that were mentioned there about his life. He has been through many struggles until he succeeded with his studies, all of that was mentioned in that comic.

Last night I was able to tune-in to ABS-CBN and I watch their program called “Harapan” The Vice Presidential Debate”. There, six vice presidential candidate took the stage for a debate. On stage were Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando of Bagumbayan-Volunteers for a New Philippines, Senator Loren Legarda of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, Senator Manuel Roxas of the Liberal Party, former broadcaster Jay Sonza of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, and former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Perfecto Yasay of Bagong Pilipinas Movement. I have witness the arguments and the ideas that these candidates present to the public. It started with an introduction from the candidates wherein most of them give their political platforms. At that early point of the program, a lot of arguments were raised by them. Then the proper debate begun, the candidates started to exchange question and response to it as well. The program was also made interactive throughout the nation through text messaging and I guess there is also a chat with the respective in charge for each of the candidates. It is like a survey wherein the people will decide whether the statements, answers, or response of the candidate towards the questions are believable or unbelievable. I appreciate the program very well because it helped me to make better decision of who to vote for this coming election. Anyways, I really see the dirt within the world of politics. Just by hearing from those peoples mouth, I can say that there is really something behind of why they really wanted to win. Hmmm something smells fishy!!!

School year is almost at its peak and its graduation time again. It is one of the students most memorable days. Off course, a student is supposed to be so much thankful and happy because it is the means of being at school for a couple of years spending hardships together with the teachers at school. Anyways, it is not purely hardship because sometimes students experience happiness especially when they got passing grades, achieves something at school, or simply a enjoying their school days with their friends. I want to congratulate all the graduates of the batch 2010 for being successful in their studies.
