A Lesson Learned from Father’s Experience

Last night my father saw me in front of the computer while very serious on watching educational videos. He noticed that I am so much close to the monitor and then he said “Wow! Isn’t it interesting?” With that, I turned back at him looking so much exhausted of what I am doing. He asked me to sleep because it seems that I am so tired because it was already 2:00 am and I was still hanging on my PC. But I never cared to take some rest because I felt the need of something to learn. So instead of going down to my bed, I asked my father some questions about what I was watching and it was still about the engine.
Actually he was the one who asked me first about what was the video all about. And so I told him that it was an educational video about automotive engine. My father was not convinced since he knows a lot of this because he was once a driver and was able to explore the engine of different cars and trucks. So he said “That is not an engine of a car for sure. It might be a motorcycle engine or the other ones”. I felt very curious of why he says that and in fact he wasn’t able to see the video from the start. He explained it to me that there are actually two kinds of internal combustions engines that he knows to be used in most vehicles.
He said that the first one is called gasoline engines which are widely used in motorcycles. Then, the second one it called diesel engine that are used in cars and trucks. According to him these two differs a lot from each other because each has a unique means of combustion system. Father said that in a gasoline engine combustion system, the process of burning the fuel relies on the spark produces by the spark plug. While in the other hand, a diesel engine combustion system, only the heat is need to enable the combustion process. He added that if in a gasoline engine system, the combustion depends on the continuous instantaneous sparks from the spark plug, in the diesel engine system the glow plug primes the system for a starting heat and after that there will be an instant heat building up in the chamber for the combustion process.
Well that’s quite very enriching and very well explained. Though my father isn’t a graduate of an automotive course but I know that he has a lot of experience on this. He told me that to never lose this passion to learn more because maybe in the next following days I will be able to take a vocational course to really dig deeper on this aspects. Well, I hope so and I really wanted to learn the essentials for this tough jobs and I am looking forward to work on the industry related to this.
